Mt. SAC Wrestling claims second straight SoCal Championships title

(Monterey Park, CA) At the California Community College Athletic Association Southern Region Championships at East Los Angeles College on Saturday, Dec. 3, Mt. San Antonio College claimed its second consecutive title, posting 295 team points. Cerritos College came in second with 268 points and Palomar College finished third with 133.5.

Individually, four Mounties turned in first-place performances: Chris Calderon (125 pounds), David Saenz (133 pounds), Billy Looney (149 pounds), and Jakob Hand (184 pounds).

Second-place individual placings for Mt. SAC included Chris Betancourt (125 pounds), Riley Fitzsimmons (141 pounds), Marcus Lobato (157 pounds), and Nate Kendricks (197 pounds).

Jason Valencia (141 pounds) and Jesse Garcia (285 pounds) accounted for the Mounties' third-place finishes.

Mt. SAC will compete in the CCCAA State Championships at West Hills College in Lemoore on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 9 and 10. The Mounties won the state title last year for the first time in the school's history.
