Mt. SAC Wrestling finished fourth at Santa Ana Tournament; Betancourt, Saenz, and Kendricks all took first

(Santa Ana, CA) Mt. SAC wrestlers Christopher Betancourt, David Saenz and Nate Kendricks all took first place in the annual Santa Ana College Wrestling Tournament on Saturday (October 1).

As a team, the Mounties placed fourth with 96 points. Cerritos College won the tournament with 137.5 points, followed by Sacramento City, 2nd (115.5) and Bakersfield, 3rd (102).

Betancourt (4-0) won by a technical fall and three decisions on his way to the first-place finish in the 125 Lb. weight class. Saenz (4-0), seeded first at 133 Lbs., who won by a 23-4 technical fall score, had a pin and another TF on his way to the championship.

Kendricks (4-0), also seeded first, had two pins and two decisions in his four wins at 197 Lbs.

The Mounties also had two runner-ups - Christopher Calderon (125) and Jakob Hand (184), a third - Marcus Labota (157) on the Mt. SAC "C" team and a fourth place by Jesse Garcia (285) on the Mt. SAC "B" team.

Mt. SAC heads to Modesto College on Saturday (October 8) for the Modesto Tournament.
