Mt. SAC Wrestling continues winning ways at Meathead Movers Tournament

(San Luis Obispo, CA) For the sixth time this season, the state's top-ranked Mt. SAC Wrestling team captured a tournament title, this time in the Meathead Movers Tournament at Cuesta College on Saturday.

The Mounties tallied 131.5 team points behind 32 individual wins that included three finalists and nine placers. Cerritos (122 points) and Bakersfield (103.5) finished second and third, respectively.

In the 125-pound class, Christopher Betancourt placed first for the Mounties, defeating Rio Hondo's Alexis Tellez, 12-2, while teammate Wetzel Hill took first in the 174-pound class, beating Moorpark's Luke Hansen, 18-7.

Jerry Rubio-Carrillo came in second in the 157-pound class for Mt. SAC, losing to Cerritos' Daniel Bracamontes, 11-4, in the championship match.

Other Mt. SAC placers included David Saenz (3rd, 133 lbs.), Thomas Chapman (5th, 141 lbs.), Mark Martinez (5th,, 149 lbs.), Ahmed Khattab (tied for 5th, 184 lbs.), Nate Kendricks (4th, 197 lbs.), and Jesse Garcia (4th , 285 lbs.).

The Mounties (11-0, 3-0) will resume their SCWA Southwest Conference schedule on Wednesday, Nov. 10, at home against Rio Hondo (6-2, 1-1) at 7 p.m.
