(San Luis Obispo, CA) The Mt. SAC Wrestling Team finished a strong second at the Cuesta College Meat Head Movers Invitational, on Saturday, October 21st.

This marks their second, runner-up finish and their fourth top four finish (out of four tournaments) this season.   Mt. SAC scored 128.5 points to finish 43 points behind tournament champion, Fresno City College who scored 171.5 points.  The Mounties captured 39 out of 57 matches and placed eight wrestlers in the 34-team invitational.

Runner-up in the 149 Lb. class was sophomore Joseph Dominguez, who lost a close 2-1 decision in the championship match. Dominguez finished with three wins and a loss, which included pins in both the quarter and semi finals.

Additional placers for the Mounties were: Matthew Mejia, 3rd place at 165 lbs.; Joseph Valdez, 4th place at 157 lbs.; David Chavarria, 4th place at 197 lbs.; John Whisner, fifth place at 125 lbs., Julian Melecio, 5th place at 133 lbs., Daylon Walker, 5th place at 165 lbs.,

In addition to the Mounties top team, the Mounties depth allowed them to enter three additional teams in the tournament, one of which placed 10th.

Mt. SAC continues with Southwest Conference dual team action, this Wednesday, at Rio Hondo College. The Mounties are 1-0 in conference, as they defeated Santa Ana College, 40-3, earlier this month.
