Nipomo, Calif. – For the first time since 2005, the Mt. San Antonio College Women's Golf Team has been crowned 3C2A Women's Golf State Champions! Competing over two days at the par-71 Monarch Dunes Golf Club in Nipomo, California, the Mounties emerged victorious with the lowest combined score across both days to claim the title.

The Mounties dominated throughout the season, remaining undefeated and winning the SoCal Regionals by a remarkable 53 strokes. However, the first day of the state championship presented significant challenges with cold temperatures, windy conditions, and a difficult course layout. At the end of day one, the Mounties were in third place with a score of 317, trailing Modesto (308) and Reedley (316).

Freshman Kaitlyn Wang led the team with a first-round score of 75, followed by Natalie Neal (77), Alana Lo (81), Kylie Lau (84), Sophia Miller (90), and Julissa Garcia (100). While the team had delivered stronger performances earlier in the season, they returned on day two determined to turn things around.

On the final day, the Mounties rose to the occasion, becoming the only team to improve on their first-round score in the state tournament. Neal led the charge with a 74, closely followed by standout scores from Lau (77), Lo (78), Wang (85), Miller (90), and Garcia (102). The team posted a second-round score of 314, finishing the tournament with a two-day total of 631.

Their efforts secured a 7-stroke victory over second-place Modesto (638), with Reedley taking third place (645).

The victory was especially meaningful for sophomores Kylie Lau, Natalie Neal, and Alana Lo, who were part of last year's team that finished as 3C2A State Runner-Up. Over their two years with the team, this core group lost only two matches—their very first competition at the Desert Invitational in August 2023, where they placed second, and last year's state tournament—making this championship win a fitting and triumphant conclusion to their remarkable journey. Natalie, Kylie, and Alana played their final competitive round during the state tournament and are now focused on pursuing their academic majors moving forward. Their leadership and perseverance helped the Mounties complete their mission and capture the championship.

Head Coach Art Guevara reflected on the tournament, the team, and the past two years, saying, "Yesterday was a thrill of a lifetime to watch, and the ladies were absolutely unbelievable. It has been such a privilege for me to watch this team over the last two years." He also praised Wang's performance and announced her new role for the 2025 season, adding, "Our MVP goes to Kaitlyn Wang, who will be next year's team captain. Kaitlyn's impressive score of 75 on Day 1 kept the team in the tournament, positioning us just nine strokes behind the lead. Her performance was crucial in giving us a strong opportunity to make a comeback and ultimately secure the championship."

Congratulations to the Mt. SAC Women's Golf Team on their incredible achievement! The college is proud of your success and perseverance.
