Mountie Women's Golf takes first at OEC Championships; Lau, Loera earn First-Team honors

(Temecula, CA) Behind a 59-1 season record, Mt. San Antonio College claimed the team title at the two-day Orange Empire Conference Championships held at the par-72 Temecula Creek Golf Club on Monday and Wednesday, Oct. 23 and 25.

On Day 1, the Mounties tallied a team total of 345, 12 strokes ahead of second-place Fullerton College. Mt. SAC continued to dominate on Day 2 carding a team total of 312, 35 shots ahead of Fullerton.

Individual championship scores for the Mounties included Kylie Lau (Day 1: 81, Day 2: 81), Kayla Loera (86-77), Natalie Neal (82-75) and Alana Lo (86-79). Lau's first-day score was good enough to tie for third place. Neal, Loera and Lo placed third, fourth and fifth, respectively, on the second day of competition.

With an adjusted average season score of 78.8, Lau was named to the All-OEC First Team, as was Loera, who had an adjusted season score of 79.1. Neal (79.3) and Lo (81.2) earned All-OEC Second Team status.

Mt. SAC will next compete in the Southern California Regionals at Simi Hills Golf Club in Simi Valley on Sunday and Monday, Nov. 5-6.
