(Chino, CA) Mt. SAC freshmen Loera twins, Kayla and Kaitlyn, earned a spot in the CCCAA State Championships after finishing eighth and twelfth, respectively, in the Southern California Regionals on Monday (November 7).

The two sisters were competing as individuals representing Mt. SAC.

The two-day event featured eight teams and 32 individual golfers at the Par-72, 5,507-yard El Prado Golf Course in Chino.

Kayla Loera carded a two-day total of 158, shooting a 2-over-Par 74 on Day 1 and slipped on the second day with an 84.

Her sister, Kaitlyn Loera carded an 81 and 88 for a two-day total of 169.

Kayla finished fifth overall in Orange Empire Conference play this season with a 79.3 average, while her sister Kaitlyn averaged 83.9.

The CCCAA State Championships will be held at the Morro Bay Golf Club on Sunday and Monday (Nov. 13, 14).

Saddleback won the team event with a two-day 637 (317-320), seven shots better than second-place Fullerton (644). Rounding out the top four were College of the Canyons (656) and Bakersfield (689). All four will join four Northern colleges for the championships.

This was the second consecutive So Cal title for Saddleback.

The low medalist for the So Cal's was Saddleback's Nicole Whipple with a two-day, 4-under-Par 140 (68-72).
