(San Dimas, CA) For the third consecutive year, the Mt. SAC Women's Golf Team will be represented at the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Championships with three individual qualifiers.

As a team, Mt. SAC placed 5th (706) out of the nine teams entered, only four strokes behind 4th place Santa Barbara City College who scored 702.

College of the Canyons (645), took the title for the second consecutive year with a 29-stroke victory over second-place Saddleback College (674). Placing third was Santa Barbara City College (702).

Mt. SAC's Precious Saelee, the Orange Empire Conference Player of the Year, finished in a tie for third overall and the top individual qualifier (not on one of the four qualifyng teams) out of the 58 golfers who finished at the CCCAA Southern California Championships last Monday (Nov. 11) at Via Verde Country Club.

"I am so proud of our players for showing their character at Via Verde Country Club," Mt. SAC Women's Golf Head Coach Greg Osbourne said. "Although we did not advance as a team, our top players advanced as individuals.

"Precious finished third and will do very well in the state championship."

Joining Saelee will be Katherine Chan, who placed 11th as an individual and was the fourth individual qualifier. Cristina Liu, who has been Mt. SAC's Team Captain for the past two seasons, finished 20th overall and was the last individual qualifier to the state championships, which will be held at the Morro Bay Golf Course this coming Sunday and Monday (Nov. 17 & 18).

Saelee shot a two-day total 158 (78-80), Chan carded a 169 (87-82) and Liu had a 179 (93-86).

"It's pretty cool to go to state and represent Mt. SAC," Saelee said. "I'm looking forward to it and I'm glad I got the opportunity to play on the course (Morro Bay) earlier this season. It's a nice course. I really like it.

"It's great to see a coach like Greg (Osbourne) inspire us to do well."

Cecil Woods, Saelee's high school golf coach at Walnut High School, was in attendance at the So Cal's and was happy for Saelee's success at Mt. SAC

"(Saelee) persevered as a player and I'm glad to see her do well in college," said Woods.

"She has a fire inside and it is very impressive to see how well she did."
