Mt. SAC Women's Golf Places Third at OEC Match No. 4

(Mission Viejo, CA) After two consecutive second-place finishes in Orange Empire Conference play, the Mt. SAC Women's Golf Team (342) slipped to a third-place finish at the par-72, 5,553-yard Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club in Mission Viejo Monday (Sept. 16).

Match No. 4 was hosted by Saddleback College, which finished second with a team score of 320.

The second-place finish by the Gauchos moved them into a tie with Mt. SAC for second in OEC action with identical 22-6 records.

College of the Desert shot a 314 and remains perfect on the season with a 28-0 standing.

Placing fourth in the match was Cuyamaca with a score of 358, followed by Mt. San Jacinto (363), Palomar (380), Orange Coast (418) and Fullerton (DNQ)

Leading the way for the Mounties was Katherine Chan with a 79. She was followed by Precious Saelee (80), Lisa Romero (90), Cristina Liu (93), Kima Blake (100) and Malaysia Thompson (102).

"We are playing golf courses for the first time, so it is difficult," Mt. SAC Coach Greg Osbourne said. "Our team is great with each other and it is continuing to be a fun experience for them.

"We are battling some injuries, but the ladies are giving it their best."

The Mounties will play OEC Match No. 5 on Wednesday (Sept. 18) at Costa Mesa Country Club, hosted by Orange Coast College.
