(Walnut, CA) In a battle for first place in the South Coast Conference North Division, host Mt. San Antonio College (19-2, 2-0) overcame a halftime deficit to defeat Pasadena City College, 61-47, on Wednesday, Jan. 31. The victory extends the Mounties' win streak to 15.

The Lancers (13-9, 2-1) held a 28-20 lead at the half, but Mt. SAC sparked its comeback by outscoring PCC, 21-4, in the third quarter to take a 41-32 lead into the fourth and extended their lead from there.

Asia Gibson led the Mounties with a game-high 18 points off the bench as teammate Aanisah Moncrief added 10 points and 10 rebounds. Carley Bolden and Daisia Mitchell also scored eight points each in the winning effort. Gibson and Mitchell were also active on the boards, grabbing nine and eight rebounds, respectively.

Bench scoring and rebounding were big contributors to Mt. SAC's win as the Mounties outrebounded the Lancers, 50-32, and held a 29-0 advantage in bench scoring.

Ranked No. 2 in the current California Community College Women's Basketball Coaches Association state poll, Mt. SAC will look to extend its win streak in an SCC North matchup at home against Rio Hondo College (4-18, 1-1) on Friday, Feb. 2, at 7 p.m.
