Mt. SAC Women’s Basketball Team Defeats San Diego Mesa 75-55 in Nonconference Action; Mitchell Scores 28 Points

(Walnut, CA) Freshman forward Daisai Mitchell of Mt. SAC scored a season-high 28 points, propelling the Mounties to a 75-55 victory over visiting San Diego Mesa on Wednesday, December 20.

With this win, the 3C2A State No. 2 Mt. SAC Women's Basketball team improved to an overall record of 12-2.

Mitchell, averaging 17 points per game, showcased an impressive performance, shooting 11-17 from the field, 3-3 from beyond the arc, and a perfect 3-3 from the free-throw line. She also contributed 7 assists, 2 steals, and 3 blocks, and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.

In addition to Mitchell's standout performance, sophomore guard Dailani Richardson joined her in double figures, scoring 19 points (6-13 FGM-A, 5-11 3PM-A, 2-2 FTM-A, 5 RB, 1 Stl.). Freshman forward Aanisah Moncrief also made an impact with 14 points (6-13 FGM-A, 2-2 FTM-A, 6 RB, 1 A, 4 Stls.).

The Mounties were a perfect 11 for 11 from the charity stripe as a team.

The Mounties took control of the game early with a big first half, scoring 48 points and holding a 25-point lead at the break, leading 48-23. Mitchell and Moncrief led with 14 and 10 points, respectively, in the half.

Although Mesa managed to outscore the Mounties 32-27 in the second half, the home team maintained control, sealing the victory with a 20-point margin.

Mt. SAC will continue nonconference action with a game at Victor Valley on Friday, December 29.
