Women's Basketball comes from behind to defeat Pasadena in SCC North game, runs win streak to 13

(Pasadena, CA) Mt. San Antonio College (20-3, 5-0) had to come from behind to defeat host Pasadena City College, 57-52, in a South Coast Conference North Division matchup on Friday, Feb. 4.

The Mounties opened up a nine-point lead, 21-12, through the first quarter, only to see the Lancers (8-10, 1-4) take a six-point lead, 29-23, into the half. Mt. SAC came back to take a two-point lead, 42-40, at the end of three, then didn't relinquish the lead again.

Skylarr Little led the Mounties with 15 points as teammate Kamesha Moore added 10 off the bench. Allyah Cartajena pulled down a team-high nine rebounds, while Nikki Thompson tallied eight in the winning effort.

Pasadena's Lupe Vazquez led her team with 15 points as teammate Tatiana Ayala grabbed a game-high 12 boards.

Mt. SAC is currently ranked No. 2 in the California Community College Women's Basketball Coaches Association South Region Poll and No. 4 in the California Community College Sports Information Association State Poll. The Mounties will put their 13-game win streak on the line in an SCC North game at Rio Hondo (10-13, 2-3) on Wednesday, Feb. 9, at 7 p.m.
