Walnut, Calif. – In a major conference matchup, the Mt. SAC Softball Team didn't just rise to the occasion—they took control from the very first inning.

Facing No. 3 El Camino in a key South Coast Conference showdown, the No. 2 Mounties delivered a dominant 12-2 run-rule victory in five innings, making a clear statement about where they stand in the title race.

With the win, Mt. SAC improves to 26-9 overall and 16-4 in conference play, while El Camino dips to 25-11 overall and 14-5 in the SCC.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Mounties jumped to a quick lead—but instead of one big swing, it was a relentless, methodical attack.

Mt. SAC pieced together a five-run first inning built on consistency and execution. Angelina Martinez got things started with an RBI single, followed by another run-scoring hit from Isabella Aspeitia. Desiree Morales added a sacrifice fly, and Sophia Avina capped the inning with a clutch two-RBI single to give the Mounties a quick 5-0 advantage.

El Camino managed to get on the board in the second, but any momentum was short-lived.

Mt. SAC answered immediately—and loudly. Emily Sandoval launched a two-run home run to extend the lead, and Desiree Morales followed with a two-run double, continuing her standout day at the plate. Just like that, the Mounties were in full control with a 9-1 lead.

Morales wasn't done yet. In the fourth inning, she delivered again with another RBI double, and a wild pitch allowed two more runs to cross the plate as Mt. SAC stretched the lead to 12-1.

El Camino added a late solo home run, but the damage had already been done. With the run-rule in effect, the Mounties closed it out in five innings.

In the circle, Zoe Herford was dominant from start to finish. She went all five innings, allowing just three hits and two runs while striking out nine, keeping the Warriors at bay.
