Walnut, Calif. – The Mt. San Antonio College Women's Softball Team opened the 2026 season with their home tournament, defeating Fullerton (6–2), LA Mission (11–5), and Ventura (11–3) to start the year a perfect 3–0.

GAME 1: Mt. SAC Defeats Fullerton, 6–2

The Mounties struck early in the bottom of the first inning when Emily Sandoval singled to right field, bringing home Sarai Raygoza for the game's first run. Mt. SAC added to its lead in the second as Desiree Morales singled in Isabella Aspeitia, making it 2–0.

A big third inning broke the game open. Amanda Porterfield ripped a hit down the right-field line to drive in Marti Ann Leach and Brooklyn Game. Later in the inning, Sophia Sanchez grounded out to shortstop, allowing Porterfield to score and pushing the Mounties' lead to 5–0.

For their final run, Leach brought in Raygoza to give Mt. SAC a six-run cushion. Fullerton managed to score once in each of the final two innings, but the Mounties held strong to secure a 6–2 season-opening victory.

GAME 2: Mt. SAC Defeats LA Mission, 11–5

The second game of the day featured early back-and-forth action before the Mounties pulled away. LA Mission jumped out to a 2–0 lead in the top of the first, but Mt. SAC answered immediately. Porterfield drove in Raygoza, and Angelina Martinez scored on a passed ball to tie the game at 2–2.

The Eagles added a run in the second, but the Mounties responded once again in the bottom half of the inning. Raygoza tripled to left-center to drive in a run, and Porterfield followed with another RBI to give Mt. SAC a 4–3 lead.

Mt. SAC broke the game open in the third as doubles from Morales and Raygoza brought in three runs. The Mounties continued to add on in the fourth with an RBI single from Sandoval and a double from Sophia Avina, extending the lead to 9–3.

LA Mission attempted to rally in the fifth with a two-run double from Tatiyana Valenzuela, but the Mounties quickly shut the door. Sandoval delivered again in the bottom of the inning, driving in Mya Arias and Arianna Ramirez to seal the 11–5 win.

GAME 3: Mt. SAC Defeats Ventura, 11–3 (Run Rule)

The Mounties closed out the tournament with their first run-rule victory of the season—something that became familiar last year. Ventura scored first in the top of the first, but Mt. SAC responded with two runs in the bottom half, highlighted by an RBI hit from Avina.

Ventura tied the game in the second and briefly took a 3–2 lead in the third, but that would be the Pirates' final runs of the game. Mt. SAC erupted for four runs in the bottom of the third, sparked by singles from Porterfield, Sandoval, Aspeitia, and Arias to take a 7–3 lead.

The Mounties put the finishing touches on the win in the sixth inning when Avina delivered a two-RBI single, followed by two additional runs scoring on a wild pitch. Six different Mounties recorded stolen bases in the game, Avina drove in four runs, and the Mt. SAC pitching staff combined for eight strikeouts to secure the 11–3 victory.
