Win Streak reaches 12; Mt. SAC Softball defeats ELAC, 19-3, in five innings

(Monterey Park, CA) With the fourth longest winning streak in the state, the Mt. SAC Softball team defeated host East Los Angeles College, 19-3 Tuesday, March 26 in South Coast Conference action in five innings.

With the win, the Mounties extended their winning streak to 12 and upped their overall record to 20-6 overall and 10-1 in the conference.

In the streak, Mt. SAC has seven shutouts and scored 128 runs.

Sophomore pitcher Alyssa Rubalcava won her seventh game of the season against only one loss.

Leading the way offensively for the Mounties was designated player/catcher Morgan Knubuhler. The freshman had a season-high four hits and seven RBIs, which included two singles, a double, two runs scored and a two-run home run. She was a triple short of the cycle.

Five players – Mercedes Alba (2-5, 2 Rs, 2 RBIs, Dbl.), Katie Griego (2-4, 2 Rs, RBI), Gabrielle Flores (2-2, R, RBI), Allie Kirkpatrick (2-3, Tpl., Dbl., 3 Rs) and Audrey White (2-2, R, 2 RBIs, 2 Dbls.) - had two hits each, and as a team, the Mounties banged out 19 hits.

Leading 1-0, the Mounties had three big innings, scoring five in the second, seven in the third, and six in the fifth.

Mt. SAC will continue SCC play with a big road game at Long Beach City College on Thursday, March 28. The Vikings (20-4, 9-0) are atop the conference and are on a 10-game winning streak.

Mt. SAC and LBCC have two more games against each other, including completing a weather-shortened game.
