(Cypress, CA) Host Cypress College (10-1) wasn't a very hospitable host on Saturday, Feb. 17, as the Chargers swept Mt. San Antonio College (6-4) in a non-conference doubleheader, 8-0 and 4-0.
The Mounties only mustered three hits between the two games, a bunt single in the first inning of the first game by Janis Espinoza, and two in the second game—a single by Morgan Knubuhler in the second inning and a single by Mercedes Alba in the fourth.
Aleyna Urbina (0-1) got the loss in the first game, allowing six runs (one earned) in 4.1 innings while striking out four.
Alyssa Rubalcava (0-1) got the loss in the second game, pitching six innings, allowing four runs (all earned) and striking out two.
Mt. SAC will look to get back on the winning track in a non-conference rainout-makeup game at home against Antelope Valley (4-5-1) on Monday, Feb. 19, at 12 p.m. The Mounties will then host Riverside City College (4-5) on Wednesday, Feb. 21, at 5 p.m. in another non-conference rainout-makeup game before starting South Coast Conference play at Compton College (7-1) on Thursday, Feb. 22, at 3 p.m.
