Mountie Softball shuts out East L.A. in SCC contest

(Monterey Park, CA) A six-run second inning set the tone for Mt. San Antonio College (17-4, 8-0) as the Mounties rolled to a 12-0 South Coast Conference win in five innings at East Los Angeles College (4-15, 1-7) on Tuesday, March 28.

Offensively, Janis Espinoza (2-2, R, 2 RBI, 2B), Asia Chacon (2-3, 2 R), Alyssa Castaneda (2-3, R, 2 RBI), Desiree Bravo (2-4, R, RBI), and Ashley Diaz (1-2, R, RBI, 2B) helped lead Mt. SAC to victory. Pinch hitters Grace Archuleta (1-1, R) and Alyssa Rubalcava (1-1, RBI) also hit doubles in the winning effort.

In addition, Espinoza and Chacon stole bases for the Mounties while Bravo stole two.

Starter Mirannda Rodriguez (5 IP, 2 H, 1 SO) picked up the win for Mt. SAC, improving her record to 3-0 on the season.

Next up, the Mounties travel to Long Beach City College (16-7, 9-2) for an SCC matchup on Thursday, March 30, at 3 p.m. On Friday, March 31, Mt. SAC will face Pasadena City College (13-7, 7-1) in Pasadena at 1 p.m.
