Mt. SAC Softball Defeats ELAC 4-2

Mounties Softball Team Pre-game

(Monterey Park, CA) The Mt. SAC Softball Team, behind a complete game from Briana Wheeler and a 10-hit attack, defeated host East Los Angeles College 4-2 in a South Coast Conference North game on April 12.

With the win the Mounties improved to 26-5 overall and 7-2 in conference.

Wheeler, who struck out nine Huskies batters, went the distance for the twelfth time this season in the circle and improved to 13-3 overall.

Leading the way for the Mounties was left fielder Candace Haliburton (3 for 4, RBI) with three hits, while Caitlyn Felina (2 for 4, R) and Michelle Banales (2 for 4, HR, R, 2 RBIs) added two hits each.

Third baseman Ciara Granado (1 for 4, R, RBI) added a double for the Mounties.

Leading 2-1 in the seventh inning, the Mounties scored twice for a 4-1 lead and held on as ELAC scored a run in the bottom half of the inning for the 4-2 final.
