(Walnut, CA) A sixth-inning, two-run home run by sophomore first baseman Toni Mendoza (2 for 3, run) broke a 1-1 deadlock and the Mt. SAC Softball team went on to a 3-1 win over East Los Angeles College in a South Coast Conference North game.

The victory propelled the Mounties to their 30th win against only three losses.

Sophomore pitcher Racqual Espinoza won her 12th game of the season against only one loss. She also struck out nine batters.

Sophomore pitcher Tiffany Kennedy-Cummings came in to close the game out with runners on first and second in the seventh inning by striking out the final two batters and recorded her third save of the season and lowered her state-leading ERA to 0.93.

After ELAC took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a solo home run, the Mounties tied the game 1-1 in the third on a run-scoring RBI single to left-center by sophomore second baseman Mandy Larios (1 for 3).

The single scored sophomore shortstop Kayla Sok, (1-3) who doubled in the inning.

Sophomore designated player Taylor Jaurique (2-2, run) and sophomore center fielder Bree Maikai (2-3, 2 SB) led the Mounties with two hits apiece and sophomore catcher Jazmin Orozco added a double.
