San Diego, Calif. – Proving their place amongst the top teams, the Mt. SAC Men's Cross Country Team earned an impressive fourth-place finish at the 2025 3C2A SoCal Cross Country Championships on Friday, November 7, at Naval Training Center Park.
Competing on a challenging 4-mile course against 184 runners from 27 community colleges, the Mounties finished with a team score of 127 and a team time of 1:45:07, beating out last week's team time by over two minutes. Their tight five-man gap of just 37 seconds highlighted the squad's balanced effort from top to bottom.
Riverside City College took the top spot with a score of 79, followed by Cerritos (98) and Cuyamaca (121). Mt. SAC edged out San Diego Mesa (135) to claim a well-earned fourth-place finish among the region's best programs.
Paving the way for the Mounties was Diego Varela, placing 16th overall with a time of 20:46.19, contributing 16 points to the team score. Destino Gonzalez-Soto followed closely in 20th place (20:53.25) for 20 points, while Conner Sybrandy and Lucas Blevins finished in 25th (21:00.56) and 28th (21:03.67), adding 24 and 27 points, respectively. Jonah Botello rounded out the scoring five in 41st place (21:23.92), earning 40 points to seal Mt. SAC's top-five team finish.

The Mounties now turn their focus to the 3C2A Cross Country State Championships at Woodward Park in Fresno on Saturday, November 22.
With their momentum building, the Mt. SAC men are ready to leave it all on the course.
