
Fresno, Calif. – After clinching the state title for the past two years, the Mt. San Antonio College Men's Cross Country Team finished strong with a second-place finish at the 3C2A State Championship on Saturday, November 23, at Woodward Park in Fresno. The No. 2 ranked Mounties scored 98 points, trailing only No. 1 ranked San Diego Mesa, who took the title with a score of 47, while No. 3 ranked San Bernardino Valley rounded out the top three with 144 points. The rankings proved accurate as the top three teams delivered dominant performances.
In a competitive field of 192 runners, all seven Mt. SAC athletes finished in the top 38 of the four-mile race. Leading the way for the Mounties was Austin Ledgerwood, who placed 10th with a time of 21:07.9. Jordan Berkley followed in 20th with a time of 21:29.9, and Noah Chairez and Jack Horrocks weren't far behind, finishing 23rd and 25th with times of 21:33.4 and 21:35.9, respectively. Maximiliano Loera finished 30th with a time of 21:40.1, Jude Enriquez took 37th with a time of 21:46.8, and Diego Varela rounded out the team in 38th place with a time of 21:48.9.
With this impressive finish, the 2024 cross country season comes to a close for the Mounties.
