The Mt. SAC Men's Cross Country Team showcased their talent at the 2024 Cougar Challenge on Saturday, September 28, hosted by Cal State San Marcos.
The team secured a strong third-place finish with a total time of 2:06:07, averaging 25:13 and scoring 103 points. Salt Lake dominated the competition, finishing first with a total time of 2:01:19 and an impressive average of 24:15, for a score of 17. San Marcos took second place with a total time of 2:04:41 and a score of 71.
Leading the Mt. SAC squad was Manny Hernandez, who finished ninth overall with a time of 24:29.4. Austin Ledgerwood followed closely in 17th place with a time of 25:12.2. Noah Chairez and Max Loera finished back-to-back in 23rd and 24th places, clocking in at 25:23.2 and 25:25.3, respectively. Diego Varela finished 30th with a time of 25:37.6, while Bryce Jackson and Alex Figueroa finished 39th and 43rd with times of 25:55.0 and 26:05.0.
The team is set to compete next in the rescheduled So Cal Preview, hosted by Chaffey College, on Friday, October 4.
