(Fresno, CA) For the second season in a row, Mt. San Antonio College has captured the 3C2A State Championship. On Saturday, Nov. 18, at Woodward Park in Fresno, the Mounties compiled a team score of 49, five points ahead of second-place San Diego Mesa College and 85 points ahead of third-place Bakersfield College.
In a field of 180 competitors, all seven Mt. SAC runners finished in the top 25 on the four-mile course: Jonathon Zavala (2nd place, 20:09.4), Jordan Galindo (5th, 20:23.8), Matthew Donis (7th, 20:29.2), Aidan Gomez (17th, 20:55.2), Christian De Loye (18th, 20:55.5), Andres Chavez (19th, 20:56.4) and Joel Fischer (21st, 21:01.7).
In addition to the state title, the Mounties also claimed the South Coast Conference title for the 10th consecutive year and the 3C2A Southern California Regional championship.
This concludes the team's 2023 season. What a way to end it, eh? Be sure to check back in the fall of 2024 for more exciting action as the Mounties try to make it three in a row.
