In a hard-fought water polo game, the Mt. SAC Men's Team was defeated by Ottawa University with a final score of 15-11 on Friday, September 6.
The game began with intense energy as Mt. SAC took an early lead in the first quarter, scoring six goals compared to Ottawa University's five. In the second quarter, the tide turned as Ottawa University scored six goals, pulling ahead, while Mt. SAC only managed one.
In the third quarter, the Mounties scored only one goal for the second straight period, while their opponents added three more. Despite a strong effort in the final quarter, where Mt. SAC added three more goals, they were not able to close the gap as Ottawa University secured the win with their total of 15 goals.
Standout performers include Aidan Gillooly who scored six goals on nine attempts achieving a shooting percentage of 66.7%. Nico Lara also made significant contributions, scoring three goals on seven attempts with a shooting percentage of 42.9%. Defensively, goalkeeper Henry De Luna made eight saves, playing an important role in the team's efforts.
With this loss, Mt. SAC's season record now stands at 3-2. The team will face Whittier College on Wednesday, September 11, at 6:00 PM.
