Mounties open 2021 season at US Air Force Academy Invitational

(Colorado Springs, CO) The Mt. SAC Men's Water Polo team took to the road for the first game of the season, as they competed in the US Air Force Academy Invitational Friday (Sept. 3).

The Mounties fell to the Ottawa University of Arizona Spirit, 18-11, for the first of five games in the tourney.

Leading the way for the Mounties was freshman 2 Meter Aidan Murphy (3 Shots) and freshman Utility Kyle Kurtz (9 Shots, 1 Steal) with three goals each.

With two goals each was freshman Driver Diego Lopez (4 Shots, 2 Stl.) and freshman Utility Adam Dow (3 Shots). Dow led the team with three steals.

Also with a goal was freshman Driver Aaron Hernandez.

Getting their first collegiate action in the nets were freshmen Paul Pignotti and Noah Stark. Stark, who is from Arapahoe, Colorado, made nine saves in the game.

The Mounties return home for their first game of the season against L.A. Trade Tech Wednesday (Sept. 8). The game time is 3:00 pm.
