Men’s Water Polo Scores Seven in Fourth Period to put away Chaffey 19-15 in South Coast Conference Game

(Rancho Cucamonga, CA) With a one-goal Mt. SAC lead going into the fourth period, the Mountie Men's Water Polo team scored seven times to put away Chaffey College 19-15 Wednesday afternoon in a South Coast Conference game.
The win keeps the Mounties in first place with a 3-0 record and 11-6 overall.
Leading  12-11 to start the final period, sophomore driver Roman Aceres scored two consecutive goals for the Mounties for the 14-11 lead and it was a back-and-forth game until a 15-15 tie with 3:30 left.
However, four consecutive goals, including two from sophomore utility Adrian Hernandez would put the Panthers away for good for the Mt. SAC victory.
Sophomore utility Nic Perez (5 steals) and freshman Matt Rauch led the Mounties with five goals apiece and Aceres added four.
The Mounties take a break from conference action as they host a double header on Thursday October 5 with La Salle University from Philadelphia, PA and Fordham University from New York, NY. in 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm games respectively.
Both universities are visiting from the east coast and playing in a tournament at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps this weekend.
