(ERIE, PA) The Mounties made their annual East Coast trip and took their high-powered offense with them also.

In their first two of four games Mt. SAC split two games on Saturday, winning the first game, 14-9, at Washington and Jefferson College and got into a shootout in the second, losing 22-19 to Gannon University.

In their first game against W & J College located in Washington, PA, the Mt. SAC scoring duo of sophomore Scott McDill (Walnut HS, Air Force Academy) and sophomore Jeffrey Silverberg (Walnut HS) both had five goals, while Thomas Randles (Claremont HS) added two.

Defensively, Silverberg had four steals and Randles and freshman attacker Cristian Lopez (Centennial HS) had three each.

The second game, a 22-19 loss to Gannon University, located in Erie, PA, was played at Carneval Athletic Pavilion and was senior night.

It was a shootout as McDill and Silverberg again were the scoring leaders with eight and seven respectively for the Mounties. Randles and Perez added the other two goals each.

Freshman attacker Alec Rivera (Chino Hills HS) led the team with five assists. The Mounties came out in the first period with seven goals, four which were scored by McDill.

The game was the highest scoring event in Gannon University, which ended with three consecutive goals by Gannon to hold off Mt. SAC.

The Mounties had a 9-5 lead early in the second period, but the Golden Knights responded with three consecutive goals, to trail 9-8.

Each team scored two goals heading into the half, two by McDill and Silverberg. The Mounties had an 11-10 edge at the break.

The Mounties kept their lead, 13-11, before both teams would be tied three times before the final Gannon three-goal onslaught.

The three goals by the Golden Knights all came within the last 69 seconds.

"This was a very unique experience for us" Coach Ruh added, "this is the first time the Mounties have played in a traditional east coast shallow/deep competition pool".  "I think our kids will truly appreciate our beautiful facility after this experience".
