(Norwalk, CA) The Mt. SAC Men's Track & Field team won its third consecutive 3C2A Southern California Regional Championship in dominating fashion Friday at Cerritos College. With 260 team points, the Mounties outdistanced second-place Riverside City College (151) and third-place San Diego Mesa (103).
Next up for the Mounties is the 3C2A State Championships at Saddleback College on Friday and Saturday, May 17–18.
In the So Cals, the Mounties swept the 100 (Asani Hampton, 1st., Jake Jensen, 2nd, Caleb Harrell, 3rd), won the 200 (Jensen), 400 (Ryan Rivituso), 10,000 (Ian Crocker), 400 Hurdles (Devin Paton), and both relays – 4 x 100 (Jensen, Romello Jenkins, Hampton, Rivituso) and 4 x 400 (Rivituso, Jaylend Howard, Jenkins, Paton).
They also had two second-place finishes in the running events: 800 (Jordan Berkley) and the 5,000 (Crocker), along with three third-place finishes: 1500 (Matthew Donis), 110 Hurdles (Christian Baker), and the 3,000 Steeplechase (Jude Enriquez).
In the field events, Mt. SAC's Terrence Sweetman was the only Mountie first-place winner in the Triple Jump. Other top finishers were, Jesus Isiordia (Hammer Throw), Jadan Williams (Decathlon), and Ilijha Ellis (Triple Jump), who placed second. At the same time, Nathaniel Zwisler (Pole Vault), Jerry Roberts (Long Jump), and Cory Gamero (Discus) finished third.
Mt. SAC will go for its third consecutive state title at the 3C2A State Championships at Saddleback College on Friday and Saturday, May 17–18.
