Fullerton, Calif. – The Mt. SAC Men's Tennis Team held on for a tight 5–4 conference victory over Fullerton College on Thursday, March 5.

With the win, the Mounties even their record at 5–5 overall and 2–2 in Orange Empire Conference play. The Hornets fall to 3–6 overall and 0–4 in conference action.

Mt. SAC picked up a point in doubles play, as the No. 1 pair of Rick Sun and Benjamin Villalobos defeated Brayden Toniolo and Samora Wa Azaro 8–4. The Mounties dropped the other two doubles matches, with the No. 2 team of Daniel Ochoa and Micah Welch falling to Hassan Higgens and Matthew Doria 8–3, and the No. 3 pair of Sage Romejko and Zayniddin Khusainov narrowly losing to Allen Sim and Benjamin Koker 9–8.

Trailing after doubles, the Mounties turned things around in singles play, where they secured four wins to claim the match.

At No. 1 singles, Villalobos battled through three sets to defeat Doria 6–4, 4–6, 6–4 in a hard-fought match.

Sun added another point for Mt. SAC with a dominant 6–1, 6–2 win over Koker in the No. 4 singles spot. Romejko followed with a strong performance at No. 5 singles, defeating Jolhan-Pierce Noirox 6–2, 6–2.

At No. 6 singles, Khusainov sealed an important point for the Mounties with a 6–2, 6–3 victory over Kevin Nguyen.

Fullerton picked up wins in the No. 2 and No. 3 singles matches, as Welch fell to Toniolo 6–1, 6–1, and Ochoa dropped a 6–4, 6–3 decision to Wa Azaro.

With four singles wins and one doubles victory, the Mounties secured the narrow 5–4 conference win.
