Walnut, Calif. – In their season opener, the Mt. SAC Men's Tennis Team came out strong with a 6–3 victory over Imperial Valley College on Friday, January 30.

The singles matches were competitive, with each team claiming three wins to keep the score close. At the top of the lineup, Sage Romejko defeated Gilbert Cruz in straight sets, 6–3, 6–0. Zhang Yu earned a 6–2, 6–0 win over Jerry Rodriguez at the No. 5 spot, and Abram Llerenas blanked Jose Fukuy 6–0, 6–0 in the No. 6 match. Jarred Millan fell 3–6, 3–6 to Jacob Montecious at No. 2, Dominick Anderson lost 2–6, 4–6 to Aidan Casey, and Duncan Shen dropped a three-set match to Edgar Velazquez, 6–4, 5–7, 4–10.

But Mt. SAC dominated in doubles, sweeping all three pairings. Benjamin Villalobos and Rick Sun defeated Cruz and Montecious 8–4 in the No. 1 slot. Micah Welch and Daniel Ochoa won 8–1 over Casey and Velazquez at No. 2, and Zayniddin Khusainov and Kevin Hinjosa cruised to an 8–0 victory against Rodriguez and Fukuy in the final doubles match.
