Whittier, Calif. – The Mt. SAC Men's Soccer Team earned its second straight South Coast Conference victory with a 1-0 win over Rio Hondo on Friday, October 10. Despite facing a struggling Roadrunners squad (2-9-1 overall, 0-2 SCC), the Mounties weren't able to fully capitalize on their chances—but in the end, a win is a win. With the result, Mt. SAC improves to 5-2-3 overall and remains unbeaten in conference play at 2-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The match's lone goal came just before halftime, as Joseph Prado found the back of the net to give the Mounties a 1-0 lead heading into the break. That goal would prove to be the game-winner, as Mt. SAC's defense and goalkeeper Cody Lindeman held firm against five Rio Hondo shots on goal. The Mounties registered seven shots on target and made one count, while maintaining a slight edge in opportunities throughout the match.

NEXT UP:

Mt. SAC travels to face East Los Angeles College (2-4-4) on Tuesday, October 14 at 1:30 PM. The Mounties will look to keep their undefeated conference streak alive and build more momentum heading into the heart of the season.
