Mounties’ Soccer Success Recognized with Top South Coast Conference Awards

Walnut, Calif. – After an impressive 14-4-3 regular season, the South Coast Conference has announced their 2024 honors, and it's no surprise that the Mounties have claimed several top distinctions.

Freshman forward Moises Prado was named Offensive Player of the Year, contributing eight goals and five assists to the Mounties' success. On the defensive end, sophomore defender Felipe Cobian earned Defensive Player of the Year honors, anchoring a defense that recorded 14 shutouts during the season. Additionally, sophomore goalkeeper Alex Ledesma was awarded Co-Goalie of the Year, achieving 55 saves and an average of 0.63 goals against him per game. Los Angeles City's Carlos Rodriguez shared the Co-Goalie of the Year title with 96 saves and a 0.65 goals-against average.

The Mounties were well-represented in the All-SCC North selections. Defender Andrew Garcia, midfielder Allan Rosales, defender Christopher Martinez, and forward Kenneth Flores were named to the All-SCC North First Team. Meanwhile, midfielder Nathan Nunez, midfielder Joseph Prado, and forward Jon Jay Joseph were honored on the All-SCC North Second Team.

Looking ahead, the Mounties are set to compete in the 3C2A Men's SoCal Regional Playoffs, which begin on Wednesday, November 20. The No. 2-seeded Mounties earned a first-round bye and will face the winner of Pasadena City (13-8-0) and Bakersfield (11-6-5) on Saturday, November 23, at Mt. SAC.
