In a highly anticipated matchup, Mt. SAC and Oxnard College battled to a dramatic 2-2 draw on Tuesday, September 24. The Mounties secured a last-minute equalizer, keeping their unbeaten streak alive.
With solid defensive performances from both teams, the first half ended without any goals. The Condors broke the deadlock in the 55th minute with a goal from Ernesto Rodriguez. However, the Mounties quickly responded, with Felipe Cobian finding the net in the 65th minute to level the score.
Oxnard regained the lead just five minutes later with a goal from Andres Gutierrez in the 70th minute. In a nail-biting finish, Cobian netted his second goal in the 90th minute, assisted by Joseph Prado, to secure the draw for Mt. SAC.
Both teams were efficient, each taking two shots on goal and converting them all, with no saves recorded by either goalkeeper. The match was fiercely contested, resulting in eight yellow cards, including two for Oxnard and six for Mt. SAC, reflecting the intensity on the field.
With this result, Mt. SAC's record stands at 6-0-3, while Oxnard College is now 5-0-1. This match was one of the season's toughest, featuring two top-ranked teams, with Mt. SAC at No. 3 and Oxnard at No. 5 in the latest CCCSIA Men's Soccer poll.
The Mounties look to continue this momentum as they host No. 17 ranked Folsom Lake on Friday, September 27, at 7:30 PM.
