Mounties Men's Soccer Stays Unbeaten With Win Over Rio Hondo in Opening Round of SCC Playoffs

Mt. SAC Men's Soccer beats Rio Hondo in opener of SCC Playoffs

(Walnut, CA) Behind goals from three players, Mt. SAC (16-0-3, 7-0-2) handed Rio Hondo (5-10-5, 1-5-3) a 3-0 loss in the opening round of the South Coast Conference playoff tournament on Friday at the Mt. SAC Soccer Complex.

Herminio Padilla put the Mounties on the board in the 29th minute on an assist from Guilherme Farias. Angel Santoyo scored the team's second goal in the 54th minute on an assist from Padilla, then Paul Iniguez accounted for the final score on an assist from Santoyo two minutes later to seal the victory.

Mt. SAC will host East Los Angeles College (7-12-2, 4-4-1) in the second round of the tournament on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m. The Huskies were victorious in their opening-round match against Long Beach City College, 4-1. The Mounties defeated East L.A., 4-0, on Oct. 22.
