(Compton, CA) With a goal and an assist, Anthony Vargas helped lead undefeated Mt. SAC (12-0-1, 3-0) to a 3-0 South Coast Conference win over Compton College (4-7-2, 0-3) on Friday afternoon.

Vargas scored at the 30:52 mark of the match on an assist from Gerardo Cazares, who also scored an unassisted goal at the 51:16 mark. Alan Piceno added an insurance goal on Vargas' assist at the 72:39 point to put the Mounties up, 3-0.

In 90 minutes, goalkeeper John Samano saved each of the Tartars' shots on goal to keep the hosts scoreless.

Ranked No. 1 in the most recent California Community College Sports Information Association poll, Mt. SAC will host East Los Angeles College (4-10-1, 1-2) on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 4 p.m.
