Mt. SAC Men’s Soccer is Fit to be Tied, 1-1; Late Goal by Cuyamaca

By John M. Sherrard

(El Cajon, CA) With the Mt. SAC Men's Soccer team coming off its first loss of the season last Saturday, another win escaped the Mounties with a late goal by the host Cuyamaca College Coyotes for a 1-1 tie Tuesday afternoon.

After starting the season with four consecutive wins, three which were shutouts, the Mounties haven't found the win column lately, with the tying goal coming with 15 minutes left in the game by the Coyotes.

Mt. SAC (4-1-1) sophomore defender Jason Ramos, with an assist from sophomore midfielder Alexis Diaz-Paya, gave the Mounties a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute.

The Coyotes (0-3-3), who have yet to win a game this season, found the back of the net in the 75th minute for the 1-1 tie.

Mountie keeper Edwyn Gutierrez stopped five of six shots, while Mt. SAC pelted the Cuyamaca goalie for nine shots.

Mt. SAC will host the College of Southern Nevada (2-0-1) this Saturday at 8:00 pm at the Mt. SAC Soccer complex. Tacos will be available for purchase.
