(Whittier, CA) THE VOTES ARE IN! On election day 2016, the Mt. SAC Men's Soccer Team was elected to the top spot in the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Men's Soccer Poll and captured the 2016 South Coast Conference Championship after defeating cross town rival, Rio Hondo College, 1-0, on the road.
Sophomore forward Michael Flores, one of the leading scorers in the state, scored the Mounties lone goal in the 65th minute. This marked Flores' 21st of the season and was assisted by sophomore forward Martin Arrieta.
The four time CCCAA State Champions (15-2-2 overall, 5-0-2 conference) have one game remaining in the regular season and will take on East Los Angeles College this Friday, at 6:00 pm.
After the final regular season game, the Mounties will await the seedings for the Southern California Regionals which begin next week.
