(LONG BEACH) Five shutout victories in a row and counting!!!!

Sandwiched around their only loss last week since early in the season last week against El Camino-Compton Center, the Mt. SAC Men's Soccer team is on a major roll, with each of its last five wins coming by way of shutouts.

The latest was a 4-0 blanking of host Long Beach City College on Tuesday in a South Coast Conference crossover game.

The Mounties, which slipped out of the states' number one ranking this week and fell to No. 3, upped their record to 12-2-1 overall.

They will play four of their last five regular season games in the SCC North (3-0-1) beginning this Friday at Pasadena City College. Game time is 4:00 p.m.

Mt. SAC scored a goal in the first half, but poured it on in the second half with three goals.

Four players got into the scoring column, including one of the top goal scorers in the state, sophomore Michael Flores.

Mt. SAC freshman forward Sam Ponting scored the only goal of the first half, assisted by sophomore midfielder Edzon Cuevas, in the 13th minute for the 1-0 lead.

In the 59th minute of the second half, Cuevas again assisted on a goal that came off of a corner kick that freshman forward Joel Martin put in "top shelf" for the 2-0 lead.

Just four minutes later in the 63rd minute, on assists from freshman midfielder Jonathon Hernandez and Martin, Flores (19th goal) gave the Mounties a comfortable 3-0 lead.

Freshman forward Andre Gamboa, with his fifth goal of the season, finished the scoring (4-0) in the 78th minute
