Top-ranked Men’s Soccer Defeats West Hills Lemoore, 7-2.

(Lemoore, CA) The top ranked Mt. SAC Men's Soccer Team, doubled its pleasure with a pair of players with a hat trick in a nonconference game against West Hills Lemoore.

The Mounties exploded for seven goals en route to a 7-2 win over West Hills Lemoore (2-5-2).  Sophomore forward Michael Flores (Sierra Vista HS) and sophomore midfielder Axel Mendez (Cathedral HS) each had three goals to to give the Mounties (5-1) their fifth win of the season.
After the host Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the first minute, the flood gates opened for the Mounties as they scored six consecutive goals before Lemoore could score again.

Flores, who now has ten goals on the season, and Mendez both scored twice in the first half, while sophomore forward Manuel Medina (Los Altos HS) closed out the half with a goal to give the Mounties a 5-1 lead.

Flores (4th in state in scoring) and Mendez (5th in state in assists) each tallied a goal in the second half, sandwiched around a Lemoore goal.

Notching his fourth win of the season was freshman keeper Edwyn Gutierrez (Connections Academy HS) who had three saves on the day.

The Mounties will begin South Coast Conference (North) action Tuesday at Mt. SAC. Game time is 6:00 p.m.
