Mounties Compete at Second OEC Tournament of the Season

San Jacinto, Calif. – The Mt. SAC Men's Golf Team competed in its second Orange Empire Conference tournament of the season on Wednesday, March 11, finishing tied for last place with Orange Coast College with a team score of 318.

College of the Desert took first place with a score of 288, followed by Victor Valley at 290, while Cuyamaca rounded out the top three with 305.

Hayden Beltran led the Mounties with a 75 (+3) on the par-72 course, recording four birdies on the day, including three on the back nine.

Aaron Kusnowo posted the second-lowest score for Mt. SAC with a 78 (+6). Kusnowo was even through the front nine with a 36 on the par-36 side, before finishing the round with several bogeys on the back nine.

Jonathan Melton added an 82 (+10) for the Mounties, while James Bergman and Aaron Duran each finished with 83s. Cameron Miller recorded an 84 on the day.

After two conference competitions, the Mounties hold a 4-10 record. Beltran currently sits 15th overall out of 52 golfers with a two-event total of 154.

Despite the result, the Mounties remain focused on improving heading into their next competition. "It wasn't the start we were hoping for, but we have a few days to get back to work and find our groove before the next event," Head Coach Art Guevara said.

The Mounties return to conference action on Monday, March 16, when they compete at Costa Mesa Country Club in a tournament hosted by Orange Coast College.
