Men’s Golf finishes second in OEC Match No. 5

(San Dimas, CA) For the third match in a row, the Mt. SAC Men's Golf team finished second in the Orange Empire Conference Inland Division on Wednesday (April 20) at Via Verde Country Club.

Wednesday's team score in Match No. 5 of 394 was 14 strokes behind first-place Riverside City College (380). Finishing third was College of the Desert, which also had a team score of 394, but the Mounties won the tie-breaker over COD due to a higher drop score.

With the second-place finish, Mt. SAC remains in fifth place overall in the OEC, which would qualify the Mounties for the CCCAA So Cal Regionals, which begin after the conference finals.

Leading the way for Mt. SAC was freshman Ethan Thomas carding a 1-over-Par 73. Thomas finished tied for third overall out of the 25 golfers entered.

Two other Mounties finished with a 79 – Mark McCage and Felix Tsui.  The remaining three Mountie scores were: Brandon Winters (81), Trevor Ruis (82) and Aaron Fekin (85).

Next up for the Mounties is the OEC finals at Temecula Creek Inn on Monday (April 25).
