Mounties finish third in OEC Golf Match No. 1 at Spring Valley GC; Tsui cards a 73

(Victorville, CA) In the first Orange Empire Inland Conference match of the season, the Mt. SAC Men's Golf team finished third behind Riverside City College and College of the Desert on Monday, March 7 at the Spring Valley Lake Golf Club in Victorville.

The event was hosted by Victor Valley College.

The Mounties, led by sophomore Felix Tsui with a one-over-par 73, finished with a 390-team score. RCC led with a 370, followed by COD with a 381.

Other Mountie scores were: Ethan Thomas (76), Brandon Winters (79), Mark McCabe (80), Thomas Hallum (82) and Aaron Fekin (83).

"We have some great players," Mt. SAC Men's Golf Coach Greg Osbourne said. "They are trying and practicing really hard. They just need to relax and not put so much pressure on themselves."

Tsui started out with an even-par 36 on the first nine holes, carding a birdie, seven pars and a bogey.

He came in with a one-over-par 37, which was highlighted with a birdie, six pars and two bogies.

The Mounties continue OEC action next Monday (March 14) with match No. 2 at Mission Hills North – Gary Player in Rancho Mirage.
