Mt. SAC Men’s Golf Finishes second in OEC match no. 4

Mt. SAC Men's Golf Team at Soboba Springs Country Club

(San Jacinto, CA) The Mt. SAC Men's Golf team, with a second-place finish at Soboba Springs CC, remains atop the standings in the Orange Empire Conference after match No. 4 Monday (May 3).

Mt. San Jacinto College hosted the event.

Leading the way with a 1-under-Par 71 was Bryan Saw. The sophomore shot an even-par 36 on the front nine and came into the clubhouse with a 1-under par 35.

With the 71 by Saw, he now has a 74.5 scoring average and jumps into the top five in the conference after four matches.

"Saw played very solid (Monday) under par," Mt. SAC Men's Golf Coach Greg Osbourne said. "I feel we played well in very tough conditions. I'm very proud of our players for what they have to go through.

"I am proud of the way they battled in windy conditions and we had no practice round and the other teams did. It was a tough course to play for the first time."

On the day as a team, Mt. SAC (380) finished five strokes behind first-place Saddleback (375). Cypress was third with a score of 385.

The Mounties remain in first overall with a 22-2 record, followed by Saddleback (18-6) in second.

Finishing behind Saw for Mt. SAC was Amaan Patel 75 (36-39), Ben Sanders 77 (37-40), Felix Tsui 77 (38-39), Kotaro Noda 80 (42-38) and Brandon Winters 82 (38-44).

Mt. SAC will host OEC Match No. 5 Wednesday (May 5) on its home course at Via Verde CC in San Dimas.
