Mt. SAC Men’s Golf Looks to Return to the State Championships in 2020

(Walnut, CA) The Mt. SAC Men's Golf Team, which advanced to the 2019 CCCAA State Championships, looks to make another run at the season-ending final tournament in 2020 under fourth-year coach Greg Osbourne.

"We are looking forward to having a solid season," said Osbourne, who is a member of the PGA.

The Mounties begin the season in the Point Conception Invitational in Lompoc at the Par-72 La Purisima Golf Course.

Thirteen teams are slated to take part in the two-day season-opening tournament.

Four returners from last years' team are: Blake Copeland, an All-Orange Empire Conference selection, has taken over as team captain; Felix Tsui was also an All-OEC selection; Oscar Alegre, returns from limited action in 2019 along with red-shirt sophomore James Johnson.

The two incoming freshmen are: Ben Sanders, from La Mirada High School, will make a big contribution, along with Eric Fernandez (Katella HS), who is a solid player.

The Mounties will also welcome three transfers: Tommy Chung, a sophomore from Cypress College, Bryan Saw, a transfer from Ottawa College in Arizona and Kotaro Noda, a red-shirt sophomore from Santa Barbara City College.

Mt. SAC will play in the six-team OEC Inland Division and will host Match No. 5 at its home course, Pacific Palms Resort (Industry Hills) on the Babe Zaharias Course Wednesday (April 8).

The OEC Tournament will be held at Candlewood Country Club in Whittier on Monday (April 27) and the Southern California Championships will be hosted by the Western States Conference Monday (May 4) at Olivas Links GC in Ventura.

The OEC will host the CCCAA State Championships Monday (May 11) at the 36-hole Bear Creek GC in Murrieta.
