Mt. SAC Men’s Golf Sweeps OEC Match at Royal Vista GC; Tsui, Song Record 72’s

(Walnut, CA) It was a perfect ending on a cold and windy day for the Mt. SAC Men's Golf Team Wednesday at the Royal Vista Golf Course in Walnut in an Orange Empire Conference Neutral match.

Mt. SAC's Chu-Wen (Felix) Tsui and Joshua Song each carded par-72's on the 6,458-yard course and finished with a three-way tie for second with OCC's Myong Kim. Connor O'Hern of OCC was low medalist with a 71.

Song (37-35) highlighted his play with five birdies, three on the front nine, and seven pars, while Tsui (36-36) carded two birdies and 13 pars.

"It goes to show that Josh really helped us," said Mt. SAC coach Greg Osbourne of Song, who just became eligible to join the team. "We are now at full strength.

"Felix and Josh led the way and our top five are very solid and I'm very proud of them."

The Mounties, hosting the 36-hole match, finished with a perfect 5-0 record with a 370, besting Orange Coast College (373), Saddleback College (384), Cypress College (384), Riverside City College (387) and Irvine Valley College (390).

After posting a perfect 5-0 record, the Mounties sit atop the OEC standings.

"This is our first win since restarting the program in the 2017 season and I'm looking forward to a very enjoyable and successful season," Osbourne added.

In addition to Tsui and Song, three other Mounties finished in the 70's – (6th overall) Blake Copeland, 74 (38-36), (7th) Hanseop Lee 75 (38-37) and Julio Ibarra, 77.

Cameron Smith finished with an 85.

Thirty-six golfers participated in the six-team match.

The Mounties will participate in the Riverside Invitational at Victoria GC, hosted by RCC Monday (2/25).
