Pasadena, Calif. – The Mt. San Antonio College Men's Basketball Team continued its strong conference run Wednesday night, picking up an 84–69 road win over Pasadena City College on January 28. The victory lifts the Mounties to 18–3 overall and a perfect 3–0 in South Coast Conference play, while the Lancers fall to 9–12 and remain in search of their first SCC win.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Mt. SAC set the tone early with back-to-back layups from Ryan Wheeler and Jeremy Williams. Pasadena answered with a jumper from Darrius Freeman, but the Mounties quickly added two more baskets, forcing a Lancers timeout less than three minutes into the game as Mt. SAC jumped out to an 8–2 lead.

Osami Maciel knocked down two shots from beyond the arc and added a layup to keep the Mounties rolling, but Pasadena responded with three-pointers from Churchill Ikenador and Korey Perkins. A layup from Gavin Hollins-Law tied the game at 19–19 midway through the first half.

Omari Abdallah broke the tie with a layup, and from that point forward, the Mounties seized control. Williams and Maciel each scored 11 points in the first half to lead the offense, while Dayvon Gates orchestrated the attack with seven assists and Wheeler cleaned up the boards with four rebounds. Mt. SAC headed into halftime holding a 50–34 advantage.

The Mounties opened the second half with baskets from Zion Booker and Gates, who led the team in second-half scoring with 12 points, including a near-perfect 4-for-5 performance from the free-throw line. Pasadena outscored Mt. SAC 35–34 in the second half, but the damage had already been done, as the Mounties maintained control to secure the 84–69 win.
