Mt. SAC Men’s Basketball Sweeps Weekend at Skip Robinson Classic

Pasadena, Calif. – The Mt. SAC Men's Basketball Team picked up a pair of wins at the Skip Robinson Classic on November 14–15, defeating both opponents by an identical 11-point margin. The Mounties topped Antelope Valley, 71–60, on Friday and followed with a 77–66 victory over Cypress on Saturday, marking back-to-back undefeated tournament showings. Mt. SAC now stands at 4–1 on the season.

GAME 1: Mt. SAC 71, Antelope Valley 60

Dayvon Gates delivered a standout performance, pouring in 26 points, grabbing 7 rebounds, and adding 3 assists to lead the Mounties to the win. Off the bench, Ethan Nelson made a huge impact with 12 points, a game-high 17 rebounds, and 2 blocks.

Antelope Valley was led by Amado Coleman and Mister Burnside, who each scored 19 points, with Coleman also pulling down a team-high 14 rebounds.

Mt. SAC controlled the game statistically, finishing ahead in field-goal percentage (42.6% to 30.9%), rebounding (47–31), and assists (16–12). The Marauders held the advantage at the free-throw line (71.4% to 61.3%) and committed fewer turnovers (15 to 21).

GAME 2: Mt. SAC 77, Cypress 66

Cypress' Michael Wright posted a strong all-around effort with 23 points and 8 rebounds, but Mt. SAC countered with balanced scoring across the lineup. Gates and Jeremy Williams each recorded 19 points, combining for 12 rebounds. Osami Maciel added 13 points, while Omari Abdallah and Ryan Wheeler chipped in 7 points apiece.

Once again, the Mounties excelled in field-goal shooting (53.3% to 42.9%) and rebounding (40–21). Cypress edged out Mt. SAC in free-throw shooting (72.7% to 69.7%) and committed fewer turnovers (13 to 16).
