Mt. SAC Men’s Basketball loses to Santiago Canyon, 89-70, in non-conference action

(Walnut, CA) Mt. SAC freshman guard Nick Hopkins poured in a season and team-high 28 points, but it was not enough as the Mounties fell, 89-70, to Santiago Canyon on Wednesday (November 23).

Hopkins (8-9 FGM-A, 1-1 3PM-A, 11-16 FTM-A, 1 Stl., 1 BLK)  led the team with five rebounds, while freshman guard Mikah Gardner (3-9 FGM-A, 4-7, FGM-A, 3 RB, 1 Stl.) added 11 points.

Matthew Brown (4-7 FGM-A, 2 RB, 1 Stl.) and Jay Milner (3-6 FGM-A, 2-4 FTM-A, 3 RB) had nine and eight points, respectively for the Mounties.

Santiago Canyon took a commanding 21-point lead, 47-26 at the half. Mt. SAC (4-3), which will host Southwestern College on Wednesday (Nov. 30), outscored the Hawks, 44-42 in the second half.
