Michael Fenison Named Men's Basketball Interim Head Coach

(Walnut, CA)  Veteran men’s basketball coach Michael Fenison returns back to Mt. SAC and will take over the Men’s Basketball Program as the Interim Head Coach for the 2020-2021 season.  Over thirty years ago, Fenison served as an assistant coach with the program under Ralph Osterkamp.

For the past six seasons, Fenison served as an assistant coach with the College of the Canyons (COC) Men’s Basketball Program.  He has previously also served as the men’s basketball head coach, men’s basketball assistant coach and athletics director at El Camino College.

“I am extremely pleased and excited that Michael Fenison has agreed to return back to Mt. SAC to lead the Men’s Basketball Program,” replied Mt. SAC Director of Athletics, Joe Jennum.  “He brings decades of proven experience to the program.  I also want to thank him for his invaluable work on the front lines of the current Covid-19 Pandemic.”

Fenison’s full time position is at Centinela Hospital (Inglewood, CA) were he has served for over 20 years as a Respiratory Therapist.  He has also served as an executive board member of the Service Employees International Union-United Healthcare Workers (SEIU-UHW) and the National Union of Healthcare Workers.

Along with College of the Canyons, El Camino College and Mt. SAC, Fenison has also served the Men’s Basketball Programs at Loyola Marymount University, Cal State Los Angeles, UC Santa Barbara, Cal Poly Pomona, Azusa Pacific University and Chaffey College.
