Mt. SAC Men’s Basketball Holds Off #1 Ranked San Bernardino Valley, 54-52

(Walnut, CA) With four seconds left in the game, Mt. SAC Guard Corey Grant sank two free throws topple number one ranked San Bernardino Valley College, 54-52, Thursday night at home.

Mt. SAC (5-8) trailed, 50-48, with 2:01 left in the game but tied the game, at 50, a minute later and took the lead (52-50) with 29.5 seconds left in the game.

San Bernardino Valley, the number one ranked team since November 20th, tied the game again five seconds later, but Grant stepped to the line and secured the win for the Mounties.

Three Mounties scored in double figures as Grant (6 of 9 FT, 3 rebounds, 3 Assists), guard Evan Council (2 steals) and forward Bryce Knox (2 for 6 3pt, 2 of 2 FT) each had 10 points.

Guards Marc Howard Jr (6 of 8 FT, 2 steals) and Josiah Yarde (4 of 5 FG, 7 rebounds) added nine points each for the Mounties.

Forward Minfeke Sanoe (2 of 4 FG, 2 of 3 FT) had seven boards for Mt. SAC.

As a team, the Mounties outrebounded the Wolverines, 36-29.

Mt. SAC will wrap up the 2017 calendar year playing in the Compton College Tartar Classic, which begins on Monday, with a game against Antelope Valley College, at Noon.
